Green Tea Japanese Style

JR has been fascinated with this Japanese OISHI green tea that is sold all over Bangkok. And by fascinated I mean he gets very excited every time we discover a new flavor, at which point he promptly buys it, takes a few sips while making a mildly disgusted face and says “Now you try some.”

The flavors we have discovered so far:

Honey Lemon
– green tea with an unidentifiable, vaguely medicinal aftertaste (though JR says he can’t taste it)

Strawberry
– children’s Amoxicillin

To me the strawberry green tea taste very much like my mom’s homemade strawberry jam mixed with … green tea.

Genmai (or Winter Melon) – soggy Corn Flakes

To make sure that the winter melon indeed tasted like soggy Corn Flakes, JR proceeded to purchase a winter melon juice. Suspicion confirmed.

Interestingly enough Crysanthemum juice has a very similar cereal aftertaste.
