Welcome to Bollywood!

To prepare me for my upcoming visit to India, Jan took me to see a Hindi movie call "Love Aaj Kal" (which translates to "Love Now and Then"). We came to the theater for the opening night 9:30pm showing on Friday. It was sold out! So we got tickets for the following evening.

Two and a half hours of singing and dancing and romantic comedy and a prolonged scene of the dreamy main actor coming out of the shower with only a towel on is a perfect girl's night out.

And nothing makes a Sunday at work more fun than listening to the song from the movie over and over and over again:

Now I just need to learn the dance moves before I can make my trip. (Well that and get malaria pills.) According to Jan she has to do at least one jig on the way to and from work :).

Independence

I've wanted one for a month and I finally got my grilled hot dog this weekend :). BBQ, chocolate cupcake, chocolate covered strawberries, a glow necklace, watching the fireworks from the 15th floor with a bottle of red wine... Independence Day in NYC.

Watched Man on Wire:

To me its really so simple that life should be lived on the edge of life. You have to exercise rebellion, to refuse to taper yourself to rules, to refuse your own success, to refuse to repeat yourself, to see everyday, every year, every idea as a true challenge and then you're going to live your life on a tight rope.

Reading:

• The Inhabited Island by the brothers Strugatsky. I was hoping to see the movie in theaters in NYC, but I think I might be out of luck.
  
• When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris.

Genie

A couple months ago at some social co-worker gathering or other, someone asked what would you wish for if you could make one wish to a genie?

I immediately replied LOTS 'O MONEY, but I swear I meant that I would use it to travel and see the world!

OK, I admit, we were watching Aladdin and singing along to all the songs at this gathering...

Gran Torino

Went to the movies today. Not sure what was most recent me seeing the family friend with whom I went or a Clint Eastwood movie. :)

To start:
Previews! Saw a preview for State of Play (the movie). Highly recommend to watch State of Play (the British TV series) whether or not you go see the movie, but definitely before seeing the movie.

And to finish:
I liked Gran Torino. Some of the acting wasn't very strong, but it was a solid movie. Don't want to spoil anything.
